Dr. Abdur-Rahman now in his fifteen year in CCNY's Athletic Department is the Associate Director for Operations, supervisor for Intramural Athletics and Recreational Sports, and the Director of the Wingate Fitness Center and the Herman Goldman Center for Sports and Recreation.
Doc, as he is affectionately known by his staff and the CCNY community, was educated in the Philadelphia, PA public school system, and has a master of Human Services Degree from Pennsylvania's Lincoln University, and a Doctorate of Education from Temple University.
FLUSHING, N.Y. (Sept. 15, 2008) - The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly volleyball award winners Monday afternoon, and CCNY junior Floriana Garo was tabbed as Player of the Week after hitting .346 to start the season for the BeaversThe reigning CUNYAC Player of the Year opened up her season in a big way during the Beavers' 2-1 week (2-0 CUNYAC), averaging 3.5 kills, 1.0 aces and 1.7 digs per game while hitting .346 (35-9-75). She opened the year against NCAA participant Montclair State (Sept. 10) with a conference-high 20 kills, 14 digs and three assisted blocks. In Saturday competition against conference foes John Jay and Medgar Evers, Garo combined for 15 kills (.400 hitting pct.) and served up 10 service aces against the latter squad.
