Highlighted by two CUNYAC Championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2001 and 2003, Head Coach Andy Stampfel enters his eighth season at the helm of the CCNY Men’s Basketball Program. Although the Beavers have not captured a title in the past four seasons, the program has gone through a complete makeover during his tenure. The program now has a first-rate locker room, renovation of the 6,000 square-foot Wingate Fitness Center, and now the program is armed with the completely renovated Nat Holman Gymnasium and City College is the only CUNY school with dormitories on campus.

In seven years at The City College of New York, Andy has been fortunate to accomplish more than some coaches accomplish their entire careers by winning two CUNYAC Championships. Andy and his Beavers have been able to put CCNY Basketball back on the map and restore the pride and tradition that had disappeared at the storied campus. Armed with the new gym, locker room, weight room and dorms, Coach Stampfel is excited about taking CCNY basketball to a whole new level.

Prior to being hired as Head Coach at CCNY, Stampfel was a Division I assistant coach at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights, NY. During his two years at St. Francis, Andy served as the Director of Basketball Operations. Coach Stampfel feels his Division I experience was invaluable to him as a coach

The Son of Mary and Joseph Stampfel and a native of Flatbush, Brooklyn, Andy played high school basketball at Xaverian. Coach Stampfel attended Baruch College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1996 and received a Masters degree in Sports Management from Brooklyn College in 2005.

The 35 year-old Stampfel and his beautiful wife, Patricia, live on Long Island with their ten year-old son, Nicholas, and their 1 year-old daughter, Rebecca Mackenna.
