Recreational Sports

Mission Statement
The mission of the Intramural and Recreational Sports program is to provide opportunities for participation in sports activities that address the recreational and athletic needs of the CCNY community. The recreation program specifically focuses on the promotion of fitness as a lifestyle through activities such as weight training, recreational swimming, basketball, soccer, and cardio training.

Medical Screenings

A valid CCNY I.D. with a valid medical clearance sticker is required for entrance to all recreational facilities and for borrowing athletic equipment. All medical stickers issued this semester will be valid until the Fall semester of 2008. CCNY students may receive a health screening free-of-charge from the CCNY Wellness and Counseling Center in room J-15 of the Marshak Science Building.

THE WELLNESS CENTER (ROOM J-15 IN THE SCIENCE BUILDING) WILL BEGIN MEDICAL SCEENINGS MONDAY, FEBRUARY,11 2008.
AT THE FOLLOWING TIMES:

MONDAYS:    10 AM -12 PM  & 2:00 -4:00 PM
TUESDAYS: 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM    
FRIDAYS:    9:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Prior to February 28,2008 students, faculty and staff will be allowed to use CCNY's recreation facilities without a medical screening.

NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED TO USE ANY CCNY RECREATION FACILITY WITHOUT A MEDICAL SCREENING AFTER FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29,2008.

CCNY faculty and staff are required to receive their health screenings from their own medical provider. Health screening forms that must be completed by the medical provider are available at the CCNY Wellness and Counseling Center in room J-15.

The completed form must also be submitted to Wellness and Counseling Center in exchange for a valid medical clearance sticker.

CUNYAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week (1/28/2008)

Ward posted back-to-back strong outings in the 400-meter dash last week for the Beavers, at the Great Dane Classic (Jan. 25) and one day later at the Wesleyan Invitational (Jan. 26). In the former meet at Albany, Ward placed 23rd overall in the event, clocking in with a time of 50.93. Less than 24 hours later at Wesleyan, Ward’s time of 52.48 was good for fourth place at the predominantly Division III meet.
