Bronx, NY – The CCNY Men’s Soccer Team traveled to Purchase, NY to face the Panthers of Purchase College (SUNY). CCNY, now 1-3 on the season, defeated Purchase 2-1.
In a highly contested first half, Sophomore Kehinde Alabi (Dansol/Lagos, Nigeria) scored the first Beaver goal off a corner kick at the 11:32 mark.
Although outshot 4-6 in the first half and 8-13 in the second, CCNY managed to take charge and scored the second goal with a little over two minutes to play in the second half. The goal was scored by Frehsman, Abdul Jalloh (Martin Luther King HS/Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.) Soon after Purchase’s Geoff Robbins (Glen Ridge, NJ) Scored their only goal on an unassisted header.
Sophomore Goalkeeper Taiwo Alabi Alabi (Dansol/Lagos, Nigeria) made 9 saves in 90 minutes played.
The Beavers return to action as they travel to Rutgers-Newark to face John Jay on September 17 at 4:00 p.m.

Men's Indoor Track & Field
Najua Ward continues where he left off last season finishing first in the 400-meter Run with a time of 53.07 in the Pratt Invitational which was held on December 5th. The 5-8 sophomore leads all CUNYAC male competitors in the same event by .21. The Beavers is set to return to the track for action on January 12, 2009 at the Crowell Open.
