Men's Soccer earns 2-1 Double Overtime Win Over Hunter
Bronx, NY - Freshman Byron Alvarez (Brooklyn, NY) scored twice, including the game winner in the 103rd minute to lead the Beavers to a 2-1 double overtime victory over the Hunter College Hawks on Wednesday night at Riverbank State Park.
Alvarez scored the winning goal off of a double assisted pass from teammates, Kalu Uga (Queens, NY) and Sebastian Ramirez (Brooklyn, NY). The Beavers struck first in the 46th minute of the game and took every chance to keep the lead. But the Hawks had other plans and scored, with 12 minutes to go in regulation time, to tie the game 1-1.
Freshman keeper, Taiwo Alabi (Queens, NY) made 7 saves for CCNY.
CCNY is back in action on Saturday, October 13 when they host Brooklyn College at 6:00 p.m.

For the second straight week and third time this season, Kristina Phu is the HVWAC Rookie of the Week after leading the vastly improved Beavers to their first HVWAC win of the year, a 5-1 win over Medgar Evers on Sunday. Phu also enjoyed solid outings during loses to Mount Saint Mary, Mount Saint Vincent, and NJCU.
