Men's Soccer drops Baruch, 5-4
Bronx, NY - Viamontie, Uribe, Ellis, Alabi and Alvarez, each scored to earn the Beavers a 5-4 win against conference rival Baruch College. The win improves the team’s record to 2-8 overall and 2-2 in CUNYAC.

In the first half freshman midfielder Peter Viamontie scored a goal in the 15th minute of off a pass from freshman forward Kalu Uga. The Beavers did not waste any time and scored again in the 16 minute mark. Senior defender Jeffrey Uribe scored from a double assist by teammates, Kalu Uga and Sebastian Ramirez.

At the half the score stood at 3-2 for Baruch. But the Beavers came back eager and scored in the first 5 minutes of the second period to tie the game 3-3. The goal was made by freshman forward Marvin Ellis. The Beavers’ second goal of the half was scored in the 85th minute mark by freshman Kehinde Alabi off of a corner kick taken by teammate Sebastian Ramirez.

The game winning goal was shot by freshman midfielder, Byron Alvarez. Alvarez scored unassisted in the 87th minute to give the Beavers the lead at 5-4. Freshman keeper Taiwo Alabi made 3 saves for the Beavers.

The Beavers hit the road on Saturday, October 6 to face conference foe CSI starting at 1:00 p.m.

HVWAC Rookie of the Week (10/10/07)

For  the second straight week and third time this season, Kristina Phu is the  HVWAC Rookie of the Week after leading the vastly improved Beavers to their  first HVWAC win of the year, a 5-1 win over Medgar Evers on Sunday. Phu  also enjoyed solid outings during loses to Mount Saint Mary, Mount Saint  Vincent, and NJCU.
