Men’s Soccer will face Medgar Evers in Opening Round of the CUNYAC Tournament
|
Bronx, NY- The CCNY Men’s Soccer Team will make yet another appearances at the CUNYAC Men’s Soccer Tournament. The Beavers seeded No.5 will face No. 4 Medgar Evers in a quarterfinal game on Saturday, October 27 at 3:00 pm at The College of Staten Island. CCNY holds a record of 3-12-2 overall, and completed the 2007 CUNYAC schedule with a 3-3-2 record. Last season the Beavers were knocked out of the tournament in the first round by John Jay.
Freshman Byron Alvarez leads the Beavers this season in scoring with 5 goals and 1 assist for 11 points. Rookie keeper Taiwo Alabi holds a 2.23 goals against average and a .735 save percentage, playing and starting in all but one Beaver games.
If victorious the Beavers will face the Brooklyn/York winner at the semifinal round on October 31st at Aviator Sports and Recreation Complex in Brooklyn, NY.

Anika Rivera Women's Basketball CUNYAC Rookie of the Week (12/10/07) Rivera averaged 21 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per contest last week for the Beavers, helping them to a 2-0 start in CUNYAC play. She was 10-for-20 from the field in filling the stat sheet with 25 points, 13 steals, seven rebounds and six assists in the conference opener against Hunter, before adding 10 points and seven assists against City Tech. Rivera (13.6 ppg in 2007-08) later scored a career-high 28 points and swiped seven steals in non-conference play versus Centenary (N.J.).
