Men’s Tennis Defeats NYCCT, 7-2
|
New York, N.Y. - The CCNY men's tennis team (1-0, 1-0 CUNYAC) defeated The New York City College of Technology, 7-2. Avinand Persaud (Richmond Hill HS/Queens, NY), Vinicio Haro (Frank Sinatra HS/Long Island City, NY), Andy Goveia (Sheepshead Bay HS/Georgetown, Guyana), Gaiell Kercy (Oneida Baptist Institute/New York, NY), Jaiho Chang (Song-Kok HS/Seoul, Korea) and Steven Tran (JFK HS/Bronx, NY) were all doubles winners for the Beavers.
Persaud teamed with freshman Haro for an 8-5 win at first doubles. Goveia and Kercy won 8-3 at second doubles. In third doubles Chang and Tran defeated their opponents 8-0.
In singles matches Kercy (#4 singles), Tran (#5 singles), and Haro (#3 singles) each defeated their opponent 6-0/6-0, 6-0/6-0, and 6-0/6-2, respectively. Also earning a win in # 6 singles was freshman Reggie Duvalsaint defeating his opponent 6-0/6-0.
The Beavers return to action Thursday, March 27 as they travel to Mt. St. Mary College for a match starting at 5:00 p.m.

Kristina Phu Women's Soccer HVWAC Rookie of the Week (10/10/07) For the second straight week and third time this season, Kristina Phu is the HVWAC Rookie of the Week after leading the vastly improved Beavers to their first HVWAC win of the year, a 5-1 win over Medgar Evers on Sunday. Phu also enjoyed solid outings during loses to Mount Saint Mary, Mount Saint Vincent, and NJCU.
