Men's Track & Field finishes fourth at the CUNYAC Indoor Championships
Bronx, NY - The CCNY Men’s Track and Field team finished fourth at the 2008 CUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Beavers finished with a total of 54 team points.  

The Beavers earned 2 gold and 2 bronze medals. Sophomore High Jumper Dean Brown earned the gold and surpassed the CUNYAC record (1.95) with a leap of 2.08 meters. Teammate, Najua Ward also earned the gold and ran a season best in the 400 meter run finishing with a time of 49.77 seconds. Valentine Lyashenko also placed (53.46) in the 400 meters earning the Bronze. Freshman, Ernest Pierre-Louis Jr. earned the bronze (11.47m) in the shot put event.

The Beavers will look to improve their performances at the upcoming ECAC Championships on March 7th an 8th at Harvard University.

Dean Brown (High Jump) and Najua Ward (200m, 400m) have both qualified for next weekends ECAC Championships. Brown is currently fifth (2.08 meters) in the Division III in the high jump and has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships.

CUNYAC Rookie of the Week (11/27/07)

Gonzalez averaged 15.5 points per game, shot .444 from the field (4-for-7 3FG) and averaged 4.5 rebounds per contest in the Beavers’ two-game week. He tallied 13 points and seven rebounds to go with two steals against Rutgers-Newark, before scoring 18 points, including a 3-for-6 effort from 3-point range against St. Joseph’s (Patchogue). Gonzalez is averaging 10.7 points per game on the year for CCNY, which ties for second on the team.Gonzalez
