Beavers earn the CUNYAC Crown at the Outdoor Track & Field Championships

New York, NY - The CCNY Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Team claimed the 2007 CUNYAC Championship Title this past Sunday at Icahn Stadium, Randalls Island in New York, NY.
CCNY earns its first CUNYAC Title in the last 11 years with 183 total points, outlasting Lehman College who amassed 129 points.
The Beavers earned a total of 20 medals; six gold, six silver, and eight bronze. Taking the gold were Raymond Andrew Stahl-David, Dean Brown, Orhys Brown, Hadley Hoyte, Neville Clarke, and Mamadou Paye. Stahl-David brought home three of those gold medals by finishing first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.40, the 1,500-meter run with 4:30.47 and the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:37.49. Brown earned first place in the high jump with a distance of 1.83 meters and in the 110-meter hurdles by finishing in 16.60 seconds. The 4x100-meter relay team, comprised of Orhys Brown, Hadley Hoyte, Neville Clarke, and Mamadou Paye, earned the last gold for the Beavers. They finished first in the race with a time of 43.44 seconds.
Winning the silver were Mamadou Paye (100-meters, 11.46 sec.), Najua Ward (400-meters, 50.95 sec.), Dewayne Lee (800-meters, 2:07.61 min.), Orhys Brown (110-meter hurdles, 17.97 sec.), and Rinaldy Alvarez (long jump- 6.72m and the triple jump- 13.42m).
Other team members contributing points were Bronze winners Neville Clarke (100-meters, 11.80 sec.), Arthur Driscoll III (200-meters, 23.22 sec. and the 400-meters, 52.18 sec.), Dewayne Lee (1,500-meters, 4:42.84 min.), Jabreel Sabir (5,000-meter, 19:34.88 min.), Hadley Hoyte (long jump- 6.64m), Renee Wilkinson (triple jump- 13.06m), and the 4x400-meter relay team (3:59.09 min.)
“The team accomplished their goal.” Said Head Coach, Lyndon George. “They had some impressive performances and the results of a hard worked season showed this past weekend at the CUNYAC Championships. I am extremely happy and I commend the team for their commitment and dedication.”

Kristina Phu Women's Soccer HVWAC Rookie of the Week (10/10/07) For the second straight week and third time this season, Kristina Phu is the HVWAC Rookie of the Week after leading the vastly improved Beavers to their first HVWAC win of the year, a 5-1 win over Medgar Evers on Sunday. Phu also enjoyed solid outings during loses to Mount Saint Mary, Mount Saint Vincent, and NJCU.
