CCNY Outlasts Lehman 3-2 in Season Home Opener
Bronx, NY - Freshman Outside Hitter, Christopher Aviles (Brooklyn, NY) had a match-high 23 kills and setter Rafael Jerez handed out 57 assists to lead CCNY to a 3-2 (30-28, 19-30, 32-30, 27-30, 15-6) win over Lehman College on Tuesday night at The Nat Holman Gymnasium. Sophomore Ratmir Gorelik also contributed with double-digit 15 kills for the Beavers.
 
The Beavers are now 1-3 overall and 1-0 in  CUNYAC.
 
For the match CCNY posted a .221 hitting percentage. While Lehman only hit a .119 percent.

 For the lightning, sophomore Nate Martin tabbed 22 kills and 17 digs.

The Beavers will return to action on Friday, February 1 when they travel to Philadelphia Biblical for a match  scheduled o begin at 7:00 p.m.

CUNYAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week (1/28/2008)

Ward posted back-to-back strong outings in the 400-meter dash last week for the Beavers, at the Great Dane Classic (Jan. 25) and one day later at the Wesleyan Invitational (Jan. 26). In the former meet at Albany, Ward placed 23rd overall in the event, clocking in with a time of 50.93. Less than 24 hours later at Wesleyan, Ward’s time of 52.48 was good for fourth place at the predominantly Division III meet.
