Anika Rivera Receives All-Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year Selection
New York, NY - D3hoops.com announced the Women’s Basketball All-Region teams on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. CCNY’s freshman guard Anika Rivera (Msgr. Scanlan - Bronx, NY) was selected as the 2007-2008 All-Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year.
Rivera lead her team with season totals of 15.1 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game. The freshman ended her debut season with the CUNYAC Rookie of the Year selection and leading the conference in steals (6.15 Avg./Game). She was also ranked number one in steals in Division III (5.8 per game.)
Student-Athletes receiving this award were nominated and selected by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools.

Ward posted back-to-back strong outings in the 400-meter dash last week for the Beavers, at the Great Dane Classic (Jan. 25) and one day later at the Wesleyan Invitational (Jan. 26). In the former meet at Albany, Ward placed 23rd overall in the event, clocking in with a time of 50.93. Less than 24 hours later at Wesleyan, Ward’s time of 52.48 was good for fourth place at the predominantly Division III meet.
