CCNY defeated by Hunter College in CUNYAC Quarterfinals, 47-57
Bronx, NY - On Sunday evening the #5 Beavers of the City College of New York were dropped by the #4 Hunter College Hawks, 47-57, in the quarterfinal round of the 43rd Annual CUNYAC Basketball Tournament. CCNY’s season comes to an end with an overall record of 8-16.

CCNY scored the first basket of the game but soon after Hunter gained control, not allowing the Beavers to gain the lead again the entire game.

At the half the Beavers trailed the Hawks by 5 points, with a score of 21-28.

2008 Conference Rookie of the Year, Anika Rivera (Bronx, NY) tallied game-high 18 points and grabbed a total of 5 rebounds. Teammate, freshman forward Nadia Tijani (Bronx, NY) earned a double-double scoring 17 points and grabbing 25 rebounds.

During regular season play the Beavers split with Hunter, winning the first encounter 58-56 and dropping the second one 58-64.

Hunter now advances to Wednesday’s Semifinal match-up where they will face the top seeded Baruch College at 5:30 p.m. at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.

CUNYAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week (Jr., Bronx, N.Y./Theodore Roosevelt) (1/28/2008)

Raymond placed third in the 55-meter dash at the Wesleyan Invitational (Jan. 26), crossing the finish line in 7.34 seconds. This marks the third straight week that Raymond has been named the CUNYAC’s top female track athlete.
