Women’s Fencing Competes at the 77th Annual NIWFA Christmas Invitational
New York, NY - The CCNY Women’s Fencing Team competed at the 77th Annual NIWFA Christmas Invitational this past Sunday, December 7 at the Cobra Fencing Club in Jersey City, NJ.
The highlight of the day came as freshman Jessica Wang made it to the 4th and final round in the foil event. Her performance earned her a 6th place finish medal. Wang defeated some very tough fencer's leading up to the final round. In the last round she came close but was defeated by two fencer’s from Temple University.
Another top performer for CCNY was sophomore Sarah Jafferali. The sophomore competed in the foil category and advanced to the 3rd round, placing 12th overall in the tournament.
Yanique Gates (Epee), Kristel Shu (Sabre), and Hilda Maldonado (Foil) placed 17th, , 22nd, 25th, respectively.
The Beavers return to action as they host Yeshiva University on Wednesday, December 10 at 8:00 p.m. in the Nat Holman Gymnasium.

2009 CUNYAC Player of the Year
Garo was exceptional for the Women's Volleyball team this season as she was named Player of the Year as well as Most Valuable Player of the CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Championships.Her stellar play helped lead her team to their first title since 2004.
