Women’s Tennis Loses Close Match at CSI, 4-5
Bronx, NY - The women's tennis team lost 5-4 to the College of Staten Island on Tuesday night at the CSI Tennis Center.  The loss drops the Beavers to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in CUNYAC.

The match started with singles play, and both teams went blow-for-blow after six flights.  CCNY’s No. 1 & 2 Singles were overpowered by CSI. Medinah Chin lost 6-1, 6-2 to Gabriella Villarruel, while Nalini Chandebal was also dropped by Camille Dubois with scores of 6-3, 6-4.  The Beavers earned win in No. 3, 5 and 6 singles.  Kristene Enriquez defeated CSI’s Fabiana Iannuzzi in 3rd singles with scores of 6-1, 6-2.  While Josephina Allotey and Bomi Park were victorious in 5th and 6th singles.

The team returns to action on Friday, October 5 as they host Medgar Evers College starting at 3:30 p.m.

CUNYAC Player of the Week (So., Jumps; Valley Stream, N.Y./August Martin HS) (2/5/2008)

Brown placed first at the Delaware Thomson Invitational (Feb. 1), winning the high jump event with a season-high leap of 6-9.75. The jump provisionally qualifies Brown for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, and was just one-half inch shy of the automatic qualification standard.
