Track & Field Competes at the College of New Jersey Invitational
Senior Jodyann Raymond completes another impressive weekend of the 2008 outdoor season as she competes at the College of New Jersey Invitational. Raymond ran personal the 100 meters in 11.78 seconds finishing in first place and making that mark her personal record. That mark betters her previous automatic NCAA qualifying time set at the University of Maryland Invite (March 29, 2008). In the 200 meters Raymond finished in with a time of 25.08 (provisional NCAA qualifying mark).
Freshman Annemarie Agbodji, debuted in the 100m hurdles and 400 meter hurdles. Annemarie's nervousness overtook her in the 100m hurdles but she was able to regroup to post a great executed 400 meter hurdle race as she sprinted from the 10th hurdle to win her heat. In the finals she finished in 15th place with a time of 1:15.27.
Other standout performance came from Sophomores, Sashagaye Palmer and Krisanya Johnson in the 800m and 100m, respectively. Palmer started out well in the first lap of the 800 meters, running second until about the 500m mark of the race. She finished with an excellent time of 2:29.68, 1/9 of a second off of the ECAC qualifying standard. Teammate, Krisanya Johnson finished 3rd in her heat in the 100m race as she took a commanding lead to run the qualifying finals mark of 12.90 seconds.
For the men’s team, sophomore Najua Ward posted another incredible 400 meter time of 50.74 seconds. Ward left the field on the first turn and never looked back. He came back to win his heat in the 200 meter with a time of 23.44.
Teammate Dean Brown took first place in the high jump outlasting his competition with a leap of 1.95 meters. Renee Wilkinson also posted a great performance placing 7th with a distance of 6.54 meters in the long jump event.
The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, April 23 as they travel to the University of Pennsylvania to compete in the 2008 Outdoor Track & Field Penn Relays.
KristinaPhu Women's Soccer HVWAC Rookie of the Week (10/10/07)
For the second straight week and third time this season, Kristina Phu is the HVWAC Rookie of the Week after leading the vastly improved Beavers to their first HVWAC win of the year, a 5-1 win over Medgar Evers on Sunday. Phu also enjoyed solid outings during loses to Mount Saint Mary, Mount Saint Vincent, and NJCU.
