2007 CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Tournament Pairings Announced

Bronx, NY-The City University of New York announced on Tuesday night the pairings for the 2007 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.

#2 CCNY will be one of eight teams vying for the Conference Title starting on October 30th as they host #7 Medgar Evers in the quarterfinal round of the CUNYAC Tournament at the Nat Holman Gymnasium at 6:00 p.m. The Beavers ended conference play on Tuesday as they defeated CSI 3-0 (30-8, 30-18, 30-15). The team’s overall record is now 22-5 and 8-1 in CUNYAC

The Beavers will be led by sophomore outside hitter Floriana Garo (New York, NY) and freshman middle blocker Melissa Blass (Oneonta, NY). Garo was selected as Conference Player of the Week 4 times this season. She is also ranked 8th in kills per game (4.93), 9th in service aces, and 17th in hitting percentage (.388) in the NCAA. While, Blass tabbed 2 CUNYAC Rookie of the Week selections and one Player of the Week award.

CUNYAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week (Jr., Bronx, N.Y./Theodore Roosevelt) (1/28/2008)

Raymond placed third in the 55-meter dash at the Wesleyan Invitational (Jan. 26), crossing the finish line in 7.34 seconds. This marks the third straight week that Raymond has been named the CUNYAC’s top female track athlete.
