CCNY Runner-up in CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Tournament

Floriana Garo, Leslie Auquilla and Head Coach Krishna Dass all earned top season honors. Garo was selected Player of the Year, Auquilla received the LIbero of the Year Award and Head Coach, Krishna Dass received Coach of the Year honors. Sophomore setter Nicole Cascone and freshman middle blocker were also honored, receiving First and Second Team All-Star selections, respectively.

#2 seed CCNY was defeated 1-3 (22-30, 30-21, 27-30, 21-30) by #1 Hunter College on Thursday night in the Championship Match of the 2007 CUNYAC Women’s Volleyball Tournament. In the semifinal match, CCNY swept Baruch College (30-23, 30-24, 30-27) to advance to the Title match. With a 26-6 overall record the Beavers now await an ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Association) selection.

HVWAC Rookie of the Week

For the second time this season, Kristina Phu is the HVWAC Rookie of the Week after leading the vastly improved Beavers to a huge 2-0 win over Medgar Evers on Wednesday. Phu scored a huge insurance goal to seal the victory during the final minutes. After finishing fifth in HVWAC action a year ago, CCNY has managed to compete with the very best the conference has to offer in 2007.
