As a point of departure, Prof. Greble will use Leila Aboulela's novel Minaret, one of the 25 NEH/ALA Muslim Journeys Bookshelf books that Cohen Library was awarded in 2013.
Islam in Europe is a sensitive and polemical subject in politics and the media. It is also terribly misunderstood. Prof. Greble will discuss the historical dynamics of Islam in Eastern and Western Europe and some of the problems with the way that the subject has been explored in politics and history.
