The J. Max Bond Architectural Center
Mission StatementMontefiore Park and Plaza

The J. Max Bond, Jr. Architecture Center, serving the New York City metropolitan area for over thirty years, works to improve the quality of the built and natural environment through community design and civic engagement. The Bond Center focuses on physical design, planning, and advocacy projects. The Center, using its home in the Spitzer School of Architecture at the City University of New York (CUNY), draws upon the expertise of its faculty and introduces students to, and trains them for, social responsibility and public work. In all ways, and in keeping with the mission of the City College, it strives to foster a sense of civic duty to make this city greater, better, and more engaging than it was transmitted to us.

The J. Max Bond Architecture Center offers technical assistance and advocacy in planning and design to not-for-profit, community organizations concerned with the physical and economic development of their neighborhoods.

The Center augments this work with research on issues affecting urban  environment thus providing a forum for the interaction between design, public policy, finance, architectural practice and education.
