NYS Quality Communities Initiative, Downtown Mount Vernon Study

CCAC represents CUNY in the NYS Quality Communities Initiative, a program spearheaded by the Lt. Governor to assist municipalities with downtown revitalization, sustainable waterfront development, and access to technology. In 2003, CCAC provided planning and design to Mount Vernon, NY, building on two pending economic development projects--a sports and visitors complex spanning the existing Metro-North Rail cut and an arts district for the city’s south side. Recommendations and designs emphasized enhancing public space connections throughout the downtown core to increase foot traffic, alleviate congestion and improve public safety.
