Center Scholar Travels to Sierra Leone
for Policy Research and Internship
Mario Patino, a former Dobrich New Americans Scholar, and now a Center alumni, spent the Spring 2008 semester in Sierra Leone, interning with Forum of Conscience. The group is a human rights organization that fosters grassroots reconcilation efforts in the aftermath of Sierra Leone's Civil War. This was Mario's second extended stay in the country. While he was there, he also researched a policy paper, which examined the effectiveness of local practices of conflict resolution and reconciliation.
