Ann S. Kheel Scholars Program in
Community Service
The Ann S. Kheel Scholarship Program in Community Service was established in 2005 to meet a critical need on the CCNY campus. The program provides support for those students who often face financial pressures that prevent them from becoming more actively engaged in community concerns. The scholars program also enables these students to spend more time developing their leadership skills and exploring their career options through community-service activities. Without this financial support, many of these students would be forced to spend less time volunteering and focusing on their studies and more time in low-paying jobs unrelated to their future career goals or academic interests.
The program provides scholarship support of $5,000 a year for each student in addition to advisement to place students in community service positions during the academic year. The Ann S. Kheel Scholars program supports 18 students, who have devoted a total of 4,188 hours to community service since the program's inception.
