Information for Faculty

Faculty are the driving force behind service learning. As a pedagogy, it is faculty who initiate and tailor the experience to fit their course curriculum. Although designing a course often takes extra time and thoughtful planning, faculty find that service-learning allows them to:
- enrich their teaching and to develop new relationships with students and a new understanding of how learning occurs
- gain a greater awareness of community issues as they relate to their own academic areas of interest.
- identify new areas for research and publication.

Since this time, 20 faculty from across a range of academic disciplines have participated. The Fellowship provides CCNY faculty with both financial support and technical assistance as they begin to incorporate service-learning pedagogy into their course curriculum.
