Information for Students
Enrolling in a service-learning course is the most common way in which CCNY students become involved in service-learning at City College. Courses allow students to build valuable skills in a real world setting, to explore career interests, and to create professional networks that often last a life-time.
What CCNY Students Have to Say
Feedback from service-learning students has been overwhelmingly positive. Percentages are of students who either strongly agreed or agreed with the following statements.
- 85% said that service learning helped them to bridge academic theory with concrete experience and to better understand course content.
- 88% felt that their service work made a positive contribution to the community.
- 71% said they would take another service-learning course.
- 74% said that service learning has made them more likely to engage in communities in which they now live in the near future.
- 70% said the experience helped them to see the root causes of local and/or global problems.
