ARCHIVES COLLECTIONS

Prominent members of the Dominican community of New York City have already donated, or have pledged to donate their personal and/or institutional documents to the Dominican Archives. As reflected in the list below, these donors constitute a cross-section of a large segment of the Dominican people in the United States and especially in New York City. They include activists, media professionals, scholars, educators, elected officials, and artists.

The archival materials donated by these individuals and organizations include personal letters, institutional correspondence, personal notes, newspaper articles, minutes of organization and group meetings, magazines, photographs, press releases, newspaper clippings, videotapes, yearly journals and bulletins, copies of proposals, original degrees, personal writings, drafts of literary pieces, educational certificates, medals, and proclamations. These documents are a valuable resource for the study and reconstruction of the daily, individual and social lives of Dominicans as they established themselves in the United States and created organizations and networks.
