Based on a true story, this film recounts the political events leading to the murder of the Mirabal sisters in the Dominican Republic at the hands of the Trujillo regime. Michelle Rodríguez plays Minerva Mirabal, a radical activist who organizes the clandestine resistance alongside her husband Manolo Tavárez Justo and others. In the end, Minerva and her sisters pay with their lives when they desist from participating in the political struggle to overthrow the dictator. Their brutal murder ultimately seals the fate of the regime.
