Founded in 1992 at The City College of New York, the Dominican Studies Institute of the City University of New York is the first and only university-based research institute in the United States devoted to the study of people of Dominican descent.

This documentary is an account of the political situation in the Dominican Republic from the death of dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo (1961) to the election of Joaquín Balaguer in 1966. The 1965 civil war and the U.S. military invasion are analyzed in detail.
