Founded in 1992 at The City College of New York, the Dominican Studies Institute of the City University of New York is the first and only university-based research institute in the United States devoted to the study of people of Dominican descent.

During this brief interview, Dr. Ramona Hernández, Director of the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute, announces the creation of the Dominican Archives in the United States. Two major document donations have been provided by Normandía Maldonado, founder of Centro Cultural Ballet Quisqueya and Juan Paulino, activist and founder of Centro Cívico Duartiano.
