Community Engagement Scholar Kaizhong (Johnny) Huang Colin Powell Center Community Engagement Fellowships

Community Engagement Fellowships are one-year fellowships for City College undergraduates who design and carry out a project that addresses community needs in a sustainable way. Fellows receive an initial $5,000 for their first funding year. They may also request up to $3,000 of additional funding for previously funded projects going into their second or third year.

Who It's For
Community Engagement Fellowships are for CCNY undergraduates of any discipline or major.  The program seeks students who are involved with their communities, who value awareness of community concerns, and who hope to advocate for positive change through ongoing work with community organizations and community leaders.

How It Works
Applications for Community Engagement Fellowships are available January 2013. The fellowship can support a variety of student-led initiatives from projects begun in service-learning classes to the launching of CCNY chapters of national nonprofit organizations.  Preference is given to projects that address any of the Center's priority areas: international development and security, community and economic development, education, the environment, and health.

Interested students are highly encouraged to attend an information session or to contact the center with questions. For more information, call or email Colin Dixon, program coordinator, 212-650-8446; cdixon@ccny.cuny.edu.
