Application Basics
Applications for the Colin Powell Program in Leadership and Public Service are available beginning in the fall of each year. The deadline to apply for the 2013-2014 program is March 12, 2013. Students who are interested in applying are highly encouraged to attend one of the Center's informational sessions or events, or meet with a member of our staff.
The application and instructions are available for download here (see sidebar on this page). The written application consists of two essays about your background, interests, and experiences; a resume; and two letters of recommendation from faculty or professionals. The letters should be submitted in sealed envelopes and the recommender sign across the seal of the recommendation envelope. The Center's information sessions provide a walk-through of the process.
Completed applications, including letters of recommendation should be submitted to Colin Dixon, Program Coordinator for Student Leadership, Colin L. Powell Center for Leadership and Service, Shepard Hall, Room 550.
Finalists will be interviewed by a selection panel made up of faculty and directors of the Colin Powell Center. The new group of Colin Powell Fellows will begin with support in following fall semester.
