Ambassador John Price Scholarship

The Ambassador John Price Scholarship is awarded annually to a high achieving CCNY student whose academic interest focuses on a country or countries in Africa or on the Africa Diaspora. The one-year scholarship, awarded in 2011-2012 to Wilson Owuor (pictured at right), a physics major, provides $10,000 in support. Additionally, the Ambassador John Price scholar participates in the Colin Powell Program in Leadership and Public Service, a multifaceted co-curricular experience that includes instruction, leadership development, and mentoring. Participation in the program enables the John Price Scholar to develop a deep understanding of pressing policy concerns and public problems and to apply that understanding to problems confronting Africa. The Center's goal for all students who participate in the Colin Powell Program in Leadership and Public Service is to prepare students for lives of public service and to enable them to apply themselves to addressing issues of public concern.

The Ambassador John Price Scholarship is designed for a highly talented City College undergraduate from any major with an interest in leadership, public service, and public policy. Preference is giving to rising juniors, but other students are encouraged to apply. Students from all schools and disciplines who have a demonstrated interest in public service are also encouraged to apply.
