The Colin Powell Center provides scholarship and fellowship support to motivated graduate students and undergraduates at the City College of New York. Our goal is to enable students to achieve their goals and to become more engaged citizens and leaders.

Community Engagement Fellowship Program

The award: $5,000
Duration: One year
Who can apply: Sophomores and Juniors
When to apply: March 12, 2013

The Community Engagement Fellowship program supports three undergraduate students a year who, with a partner organization, design and implement a project that addresses a community need in a sustainable way. Students of any major, program, or school are encouraged to apply. More

Colin Powell Fellowship
in Leadership and Public Service

The award: $10,000 per year
Duration: Two years (one year for graduate students)
Who can apply: Sophomores (for the undergraduate program), and all graduate students
When to apply: Mar. 12, 2013

The Colin Powell Program in Leadership and Public Service is an intensive program for CCNY undergraduate and graduate students of any major. The program includes seminars, events, and other co-curricular experiences that enable fellows to develop a deep understanding of public service and pressing policy concerns and build the leadership skills to address them.  More

Partners for Change Fellowship

The award: $5,000
Duration: One year
Who can apply: Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors
When to apply by: April 3, 2013

Partners for Change is a new program for students with specific interests in 1)  education, 2) health justice, 3) urban sustainability OR (beginning in 2013) 4) community and economic development and international development. Partners for Change fellows work alongside professionals to provide need services and conduct research that addresses critical questions in the field. More 

Edward I. Koch Scholarship Program

The award: $5,000 a year
Duration: Four years
Who can apply: Freshmen
When to apply: Oct. to Dec.,

The Edward I. Koch Scholarship program promotes community service. Koch Scholars devote a minimum of 200 hours a year to volunteering with a nonprofit organization. Scholars are selected based on financial need, commitment to volunteering, and academic potential. More
