Community-Based
Participatory Research

CBPR is… a collaborative approach to research—and ultimately to policy formulation—that involves all partners (community, academic, policymakers) equitably in all aspects of the research process

Our Goal:  The Powell Center seeks to increase the practice of community-based participatory research (CBPR) at CCNY.

What We Do:  The Colin Powell Center provides CBPR grants, technical assistance, and training to CCNY faculty and staff and their community-based research partners to further effective CBPR. More

Public Scholarship

CCNY Public Scholars are... faculty members and other academic researchers who reside at the nexus of theory and practice.  They use their research expertise to address immediate public problems and public-policy concerns; and they write and talk about their research finding in a way that is accessible and easily understood by non-academic audiences.

Our Goal : Through its public scholarship initiative, the Colin Powell Center seeks to make academic research and research findings more relevant and accessible to a wide range of public audiences and practitioners.

What We Do:  To support public scholarship at CCNY, the Center provides grants, policy writing workshops, and editing and publication support to eligible CCNY faculty and staff. More
