Colin Powell Center for Policy Studies
Public Scholarship Program:
Translating Research into Public Policy and Social Change
Application Deadline: Friday, June 3, 2011
The Colin Powell Center promotes public scholarship by providing professional development workshops designed to help CCNY faculty members target their academic research and expertise to public audiences and policymakers. The Center also provides editing and publication support and can assist with the dissemination of research through public forums and media outlets.
Purpose of Grant
Public scholarship grants are designed to encourage CCNY faculty from all academic disciplines to make their scholarship and academic work accessible to a range of public audiences. Audiences may include policymakers, funders, advocates, and advocacy groups, elected officials and other formal decision makers. Grants also support faculty members’ efforts to influence public opinion more broadly through publication via traditional and new media channels.
The Center seeks to create a community of public scholars on the CCNY campus. Our goal is support faculty who make a long-term commitment to creating policy change through public scholarship efforts. Participants who continue to write and pursue dissemination strategies can apply for additional financial support from the Powell Center to produce and host a symposium, roundtable discussion, conference, or other public forum.
Amount of Award: $2,000
