Jamiela-McDonnoughJamiela McDonnough, the youngest child of Jamaican immigrants, is a senior majoring in biology with a minor in studio art. A native of South Hempstead, New York, Jamiela graduated from South Side High School with an International Baccalaureate Degree and has long had a passion for serving others. Influenced by her mother, a certified nurse-midwife, and her childhood pediatrician, she knew at age 6 that she wanted to become a physician. Her leadership skills and commitment to service have led her to participate in many clubs and community service initiatives, and to travel to Huancayo, Peru to work with an underserved clinic and economically disadvantaged children. She hopes to become a primary care physician and to provide health care for the less fortunate.
