Karla Tevez
Partners for Change Fellow (college access)
Karla Tevez, a first-generation Salvadoran-American, is a political science major with a longstanding interest in politics, public policy, and the law. Karla also recognizes the importance of education, and this awareness drives her desire to find solutions to the dilemmas that inner-city students face. College access, in particular, is an issue that Karla believes must be brought to the forefront to make society more equitable. As a Partners for Change fellow, she hopes that by working with the Harlem community, she will gain a better understanding of college access issues and solutions. She also hopes to gain the research and critical thinking skills to impact her community positively. Karla plans to study public policy in graduate school, focusing on education and the educational approaches of other countries to find ways to improve the U.S. educational system as a whole.
