Ruth-LopezRuth Lopez, raised in Peru, is a senior at Spitzer School of Architecture and a member of the Honors Program at City College. Having developed an interest in architecture at an early age, Ruth has competed in design competitions including Peace Pentagon: A Call to Action, and ACSA/AISC Steel Design Student Competition. Her participation has strengthened her understanding of the important role technology and sustainability play in the design of effective buildings. Her studies have exposed Ruth to the principles of sustainability and the potential of architecture to address urban and environmental issues. She believes that architects have a social responsibility to society, and she is interested in exploring ways the field can contribute to public service. Ruth volunteers for the Delancey Chapter of the Pathfinders Club. The club, sponsored by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, involves teens in leadership workshops and community service activities that encourage them to become active members of the church and society.
