Augustine Gnalian
Colin Powell Fellow, 2011-2013

Augustine Gnalian, a native of India, is a biomedical studies major in the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education. His passion for medicine and making a difference comes from influential circumstances from his youth. Augustine wants to make an impact on the society around him by becoming a leader in his community through gaining a strong understanding of public policy as a primary care physician. One of his life goals is to help the orphans in his native birthplace by building a school or providing hospital care for them, and he aspires to serve under-privileged populations. He is currently the president of the Biomedical Asian Health Coalition, which hosts public events to unite the student body, and remains active in his community. He volunteers at his local Church and has completed an internship as a counselor for autistic children at the Shorefront YM-YWHA of Brighton-Manhattan Beach Inc. He believes that each experience and hardship only pushes him closer to achieving his goals of making a change in the world around him.
