Ezra Christopher
New York Life Graduate Scholar, 2011-2012
Ezra Christopher, a native of Antigua, is pursuing a master's degree in public administration in the Public Service Management Program. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and English from the University of Pittsburgh, where she served as an educational fundraiser supporting the expansion of financial opportunities for economically disadvantaged students. This summer, Ezra is interning at Public Citizen, a public interest organization that fights corporate abuses, promotes social justice, and advocates for citizens' rights. Her scholarly interests center on evaluating the effectiveness of immigration law and policy. She hopes to establish a nonprofit organization that helps young immigrants gain access to scholarship opportunities and adjust to unfamiliar educational systems. Ezra has established her graduate program's first student-run journal, which will feature research and opinion pieces on education, health care, immigration, urban affairs, economic development, and international policy. Before migrating to the U.S., Ezra worked as a reporter for an Antiguan radio news station, covering parliamentary sessions and related political news.
