Jay-Sheree Allen is a psychology major at City College with a pre-med concentration. She is the founder of a young women’s leadership group, WEST, (Women of Excellence, Strength and Tenacity), and her eventual goal as a health-care provider is to draw upon her experiences at WEST to empower young women to be influential voices in their community. In June 2009, Jay-Sheree traveled to Tanzania to teach science in Girls Empowerment Camps through a Powell Center service-learning program. A graduate of New Rochelle High School, Jay-Sheree works as a classroom consultant at P.S. 154 in Central Harlem, through the NYU Metropolitan Center for Urban Education. She also is an Ann Kheel Community Service Scholar at CCNY and vice president of the Caribbean Students Association.
