Ambassador John Price Scholar, 2008-2009

Mohamed Jallow
Mohamed Jallow arrived in the United States from Sierra Leone, West Africa, in 2003, upon fleeing the civil war in his homeland. He endured an arduous childhood, spent in part on the run from rebels who committed atrocities on the population. He also spent years in refugee camps in Guinea and Gambia before arriving in New York. Mohamed, also an Ambassador John Price Scholar, is majoring in international relations and public policy with an emphasis on human rights and social change. During the summer of 2008, he interned with the Voice of America's Africa Division in Washington, D.C. He also represented City College at the Camp David Seminar on Middle East Peace Process, which was hosted by Washington Center, a nonprofit educational organization. Mohamed's goal is to return to the Africa and contribute to lifting the continent out of poverty.
