Sergio Galeano is a junior pursuing a double major in political science and economics. A native of Queens and the only child of Colombian immigrants, Sergio was raised in an atmosphere of struggle and sacrifice, learning by experience the cultural and financial difficulties inherent to so many immigrants. At Regis High School in Queens, he served as a mentor in the REACH program, which extends educational and financial aid to intellectually gifted inner city youth. At CCNY, Sergio is interested in furthering his knowledge of the strengths and flaws of the current political and economic climate. Ultimately, he wishes to be an active agent in finding better means and solutions for the distribution of today’s resources both domestically and internationally. Sergio looks forward to the many opportunities that the fellowship has to offer, viewing it as an initiation of not only his personal growth, but also of his future accomplishments and contributions to public service.
