Svetlana Kvint graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 2008. She is currently a third-year biomedical studies major at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, working towards a career in primary care medicine. Svetlana has a significant interest in the social determinants of health and their distribution.  This focus has propelled her to become actively involved in a number of projects related to the field.  She has participated in a medical mission to remote communities in Panama and is working as a teaching assistant in a class geared towards teaching students how to use census data to evaluate the relationships between socio-demographic variables and health statistics in NYC zip codes.  Svetlana is planning to continue to pursue such experiences with the hope of becoming an effective community leader in the field.
