Sajjad Martin
New York Life Undergraduate Scholar, 2011-2013

Sajjad Martin was born and raised in Queens, New York.  His exposure to diversity deepened his desire to learn more about the various languages, cultures, arts, historical backgrounds, and religions that surrounded him in Queens, and issues of law enforcement, politics, and human rights became concepts he grew strongly passionate about. As an international studies major, Sajjad is able to address all of his interest and gain a deeper understanding of the global system. As part of his studies, Sajjad has also taken Arabic language courses in order to further his personal knowledge and improve his communication abilities. Faith and family have been the long-standing influential factors which have fueled Sajjad’s inclination towards public service. His goal is to further his education so that he can use the skills learned to pursue a career in law enforcement and become actively involved in the preservation of human rights.
