The Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at the City College of New York hopes to serve as one of the nation's leading authorities on preparing members of under-served communities for careers in government and the non-profit sector. The Center offers a number of innovative programs, and plans others for the future.
Support for the Master's Degree Program in Public Administration
CityCollege offers students from under-served groups a rigorous graduate program designed to prepare them for leadership careers in public service. The RangelCenter will arrange internships, financial support, seminars, and instructional services for students enrolled in the program. Read more
The Charles B. Rangel Mid-Career Leadership Fellows The program offers workshops, seminars, and other events for outstanding leaders from communities underrepresented in public service. Activities focus on practical issues of importance to successful careers. Participants also have the opportunity to teach and mentor students in the Master’s Degree Program in Public Administration.Read more
The C. V. Starr Library When completed, the Library will hold documents and memorabilia from Congressman Rangel’s lifetime of public service. The library will encourage study of and research in the wide-ranging fields of public service prominent in Congressman Rangel’s long and varied career. Read more
The Charles B. Rangel Center The Center will offer state-of-the art conference facilities, as well as offices for visiting scholars. Located adjacent to campus, the Center will also house the C.V. Starr Library and serve as the host location for seminars, speeches on important public-policy issues, ground-breaking research, and instructional activities focused on public service.Read more

Comptroller General Gene L. Dodaro Describes US Challenges In an October 23rd lecture attended by over 50 members of the CCNY community, including students in CCNY’s Master’s Program in Public Service Management, the Comptroller General outlined the significant issues that will face a new administration. Noting that the new President would confront a particularly challenging transition, the Comptroller described the long list of national problems for a new administration, including an ongoing war, a financial crisis, and rapidly rising health-care costs. Congressional Budget Counsel Describes Events Surrounding the Bailout Legislation In an October 6th lecture for MPA students, Congressional Budget Counsel Gail Millar offered a detailed, blow-by-blow account of the development of the $700 billion bailout measure. Stating that she thought work on the legislation was some of the most important she would ever do, Millar gave students a gripping account of a fierce struggle to find compromise among opposing points of view.

At its June meeting, the New York State Board of Regents approved CCNY's Master's Degree Program in Public Administration.
The City University of New York approved the creation of the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at the City College of New York. The Board acted at its February 25th meeting.
