Mentor's Bio:
Chair, Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences.
B.S. in Geology, 1966 Washington State University
Ph.D. Geochemistry, 1970 Stanford University
Research Topic(s) Summary:
Air Quality Research
Description of Research:
Characterization and evolving properties of solid PM2.5 aerosol particulates with special attention given to the detection of spores and bacteria; experimental studies of bacteria-clay interactions emphasizing conditions favorable to the production of bio-mineral phases. Experiments use light scattering and auto-fluorescence to characterize assemblages. Assays of aerosols include SEM/EDS, GC/MS. FTIR, AA, and related instruments.

Dynamic models for the intrusion of large igneous structures, particularly the Palisades diabase of New York and New Jersey.

Gothermometry and geobarometry of granultes.
