REPORTED INCIDENT(S):

March 20, 2102

On March 17, 2012, at approximately 2:40 P.M., The Department of Public Safety received a report of a Robbery on the campus perimeter. Specifically, a female Towers resident reported she was walking with a male friend south on St. Nicholas Terrace.  Immediately south of the 135th Street St. Nicholas Park Entrance, the victims were approached by four (4) dark skinned males (one wearing a red leather jacket). One of the male suspects stuck the male victim in the face and then demanded his wallet. The male victim surrendered his wallet and the suspects then fled the area via St. Nicholas Park.

The male victim did not require any medical attention and the female victim was unharmed. NYPD and CCNY Public Safety are actively investigating this incident.

Additionally, the NYPD reported that on March 19, 2012, at approximately 3:00 PM, there was an off campus incident where three (3) males were shot and wounded by unidentified suspects. None of the victims were affiliated with the college and it is reported that they are under treatment at a local area hospital. At the time of the incident, CCNY Public Safety was informed that suspects had immediately fled the area of the in gray colored min-van prior to the arrival of the NYPD and did not present a threat to the campus.

While this incident was not related to the college, the investigation of the incident by the NYPD resulted in the area below 128th Street to be closed for several hours.  The immediate area surrounding the Campus was not impacted by the street closure and all campus operations including the college shuttle service continued to operate as normal. The NYPD is actively investigating this incident, if you have information regarding this crime; please call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text "TIP577" (plus your message) to "CRIMES" (274637),
