Introduction to the WCC w/ Depression & Suicide Awareness |

This 45 minute presentation introduces students to the structure and services of the Wellness and Counseling Center. Students will learn about the medical, psychological, and outreach services provided by the WCC staff. In addition, students will learn the major warning signs and symptoms of depression and suicide, as well as coping strategies for themselves and loved ones. There will be handouts and opportunity for audience discussion and participation.

Time Management: The “Other” Non-Renewable Resource |

This 60 minute presentation teaches students the many barriers and benefits to effective time management. Students will learn efficient time management skills, such as prioritizing, avoiding procrastination, planning ahead, and goal setting. In addition, students will learn the best ways to avoid wasting time. There will be handouts and opportunity for audience discussion and participation.

Managing Test Anxiety: Keeping Calm Before the Storm |

This 60 minute presentation teaches students how to recognize causes, warning signs, and symptoms of test anxiety, such as physiological, psychological, cognitive, and behavioral reactions. Students will learn effective skills for managing test anxiety, such as proper study habits, keeping a positive attitude, and relaxation skills. In addition, students will learn specific test-taking skills for different types of test questions. There will be handouts, demonstrations, and opportunity for audience discussion and participation.

This 60 minute presentation teaches students how to recognize causes, warning signs, and symptoms of stress, such as physiological, psychological, cognitive, and behavioral reactions. Students will learn effective stress management skills, such as increased awareness, cognitive techniques, relaxation techniques, and positive health habits. There will be handouts, demonstrations, and opportunity for audience discussion and participation.

Anger Management: Cooling a “Hot Head” |

This 60 minute presentation teaches students how to recognize causes, warning signs, and symptoms of anger, such as physiological, psychological, cognitive, and behavioral reactions. Students will learn effective anger management skills, such as increased awareness, cognitive restructuring, relaxation techniques, and many others. There will be handouts, demonstrations, and opportunity for audience discussion and participation.

Insomnia Management: Getting the Sleep You Need to Succeed |

This 60 minute presentation teaches students how to recognize causes, warning signs, and symptoms of sleep deprivation and insomnia, such as depression and poor school performance. Students will learn proper sleep hygiene and about the various types of psychological, natural, and medical treatments for insomnia. There will be handouts and opportunity for audience discussion and participation.
