To the College Community:
Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti, who suffered a devastating earthquake on Tuesday, January 12, and with members of the Haitian diaspora around the world. Several hundred members of The City College community are of Haitian heritage and are deeply concerned about the welfare of loved ones in their homeland.
In light of these events, the Office of Student Affairs is reaching out to all Haitian and Haitian-American Students to find out what we can do to help, and I urge that Haitian faculty and staff contact contact their deans and supervisors and/or the Office of Human Resources for assistance. Everyone here will be as flexible as possible as we do everything we can to assist members of our community to cope with this catastrophe.
I want to remind students that
emergency grants are available to you if the earthquake has an effect on your financial status; you should visit the Office of Student Affairs in the Willie Administration Building 204 to apply. You should also take full advantage of our
counseling services in the Wellness and Counseling Center in Marshak, Room 15, or call 212-650-8222 to make an appointment.
Please check back periodically, as we will add links and information as the College and University continues to respond to these tragic events.
Sincerely,
Robert E. Paaswell
Interim President
